  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup Light or Dark Brown Sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp All-Purpose Flour (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup Light Corn Syrup (for topping)
  • 1 Large Egg (slightly whisked for topping)
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter (for topping)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1 tbsp Sea Salt Flakes (sprinkled on before baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and espresso powder.
  3. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix together unsalted butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  4. Reduce the mixer speed to low, gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Scoop the brownie batter into your prepared baking pan. Spread it evenly using a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes.
  6. While brownies bake, in a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix together granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, corn syrup, the whisked egg, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until combined. Then fold in chopped pecans.
  7. Once brownies are baked, pour the pecan pie filling over them. Sprinkle with sea salt flakes before returning to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven when done and allow cooling completely before cutting into squares.
  9. For added richness, chill brownies in the refrigerator for 30–60 minutes before serving.
