  • 1 small head of cabbage (cut into thick slices)
  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Optional: 1 egg for binding

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the cabbage into thick rounds and brush both sides with olive oil. Arrange on the baking sheet.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and egg (if desired). Mix until well combined.
  4. Shape meat mixture into patties and place on top of each cabbage slice.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes; then sprinkle cheese on top and broil for an additional 3-5 minutes until melted.
