  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Warm milk until lukewarm and mix with softened butter in a bowl. Add eggs and blend well.
  2. In another bowl, combine bread flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually incorporate dry ingredients into the wet mixture until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to prepare the filling.
  5. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Spread the filling evenly and roll it tightly from one long side to form a log.
  6. Cut the log into equal pieces (about 12) and slice each piece lengthwise to create strands. Twist together to form braids.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place braids on a lined baking sheet, brush with beaten egg for shine, and bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
