  • 1 pound thick-cut turkey bacon (diced)
  • 1 large yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 2 small Fuji apples (peeled and diced)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons barley tea

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving some grease in the pan.
  2. Add the finely diced onion to the remaining grease and cook on medium-low until translucent (about 8-10 minutes).
  3. Stir in the diced apples and cook until they soften (about another 4-5 minutes).
  4. Mix in garlic, brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, and cooked turkey bacon.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in barley tea before returning to low heat.
  6. Simmer for about 10-12 minutes until thickened to a jam-like consistency.
  7. Serve warm or cold as desired.
